“The students have developed a project that will culminate into a short documentary that explores working Women Artists in the BIPOC community in the city. Through a grant, they have been tasked with creating a project about and addressing social justice issues. This has been a difficult topic for them, as one of them said, from the massive amount of inequity and trauma we have had to watch over the past few years we are just tired of stewing in the helpless. They did not want to do a project that made them talk about one more thing that shows inequity, but instead create something proactive, that is more of a celebration of what they see in their local artists, and what is desperately missing from their formal education, representation.” – Kevin Charles Kline (Curriculum Designer & Teaching Artist)
